MEDIA USING INCORRECT STATISTICS IN DISCUSSING ILLINOIS SCHOOL FUNDING

CHICAGO–The media is using incorrect figures in discussing funding of Illinois public schools, confusing both the public and itself, charged the president of Illinois’ largest taxpayer organization.

NTUI Exposes Pledge Breakers in Rockford


Oct. 23, 2008.  Jim Tobin traveled to Rockford to speak out against State Sen. Dave Syverson (R-34, Rockford), for breaking his signed pledge to oppose any tax increases.  Syverson, along with State Sen. John O. Jones (R-54, Mt. Vernon), have both signed the “Illinois Taxpayer Protection Pledge” to oppose any increase in taxes.  Both Jones and Syverson have stated recently that they would be in favor of an increase in the state income tax.  Tobin also criticized the Illinois Farm Bureau for supporting the income tax increase.
