Tax Accountability Endorses Lex Green for Illinois Governor

CHICAGO—”Tax Accountability has endorsed Lex Green (L) for Illinois Governor in the November 2 election,” announced Jim Tobin, President of Tax Accountability, the political action arm of National Taxpayers United of Illinois.

“Lex Green signed our Taxpayer Protection Pledge, in which he promised, ‘I pledge to the taxpayers of Illinois that I will oppose and vote against any and all efforts to increase taxes.’ He deserves the support if Illinois voters on November 2.”

U.S. Senate and Gubernatorial Debates in DeKalb Thursday, Oct. 21

Prompted by the continued exclusion of minor party and independent candidates from debates nationwide, National Taxpayers United of Illinois (NTUI) is teaming with The Free and Equal Elections Foundation to move toward open and inclusive political debates for all candidates.

The back-to-back debates for U.S Senate and Illinois gubernatorial candidates are scheduled for Thursday, October 21, 2010, at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. The debates will take place in the Carl Sandburg Auditorium in Holmes Student Center. U.S. Senate candidates will be first from 6 – 7:30 p.m., followed by the gubernatorial debate from 8 – 9:30 p.m.

Taxpayers Name State Senator A. J. Wilhelmi "Tax Villain" for October

CHICAGO—National Taxpayers United of Illinois (NTUI), Illinois’ largest taxpayer organization, today named State Senator A. J. Wilhelmi (D-43, Crest Hill), its “Tax Villain of the Month.”

“Sen. Wilhelmi has been pummeling Illinois taxpayers unmercifully,” said Jim Tobin, NTUI President. “In the last two sessions of the Illinois General Assembly, from 2007 to 2010, he voted for every significant tax increase bill, including the infamous SJRCA92, an amendment to the Ill. Constitution that would have converted state personal and corporate income tax rates from their current flat rates to graduated rates, making it easier to raise rates by appealing to class warfare themes.”
