How Did Your State Representative And Senator Vote?

(CHICAGO) — National Taxpayers United of Illinois (NTUI), Illinois’ largest taxpayer organization, has released its 12th non-partisan Tax Survey of the Illinois General Assembly, revealing the tax and spending records of every member of the 94th  General Assembly from January 2005 to January 2007.
“This is our most encouraging Tax Survey in 24 years,” said NTUI President Jim Tobin. “The only tax increases have been minor, and two tax cuts and one spending cut were passed. NTUI and the thousands of Illinois taxpayers who are NTUI members have contributed to this result by defeating every state income tax increase for the past 14 years.”
“Taxpayers are grateful to Sen. Chris Lauzen (R-25, Aurora), who for the third time has been rated one of the best Taxpayers’ Friends. In the Illinois House, Rep. Keith P. Sommer (R-106, Morton), has been a Taxpayers’ Friend for eight years in a row.”
While the 94th General Assembly was in session, FY2007 total state revenue was up an astonishing 11.9% even without a major tax increase-well over twice the total two-year inflation rate of 5.2% – or about $6.6 billion from FY2005.
Taxpayers’ Enemies in the Illinois state Senate include Sen. M. Maggie Crotty (D-19, Oak Forest), Sen. Terry Link (D-30, Lake Bluff), Sen. Susan Garrett (D-29, Highwood) and Sen. Don Harmon (D-39, Oak  Park).
Taxpayers’ Enemies in the Illinois House include Rep. Sidney H. Mathias (R-53, Arlington Hts.), whose dismal score of 8% was the worst in the House, closely followed by Rep. Jack McGuire (D-86, Joliet), and Rep. Elaine Nekritz (D-57, Des Plaines).
The scoring methodology of this survey has remained unchanged since NTUI published its first non partisan Tax Survey of the Eighty-Third General Assembly in 1983. All significant tax-increase, tax-cut and spending bills are included in the Survey.
A state lawmaker achieved a perfect score if he or she voted for each tax cut and spending cut and against each of the tax-increase and spending bills included in the survey. Such a lawmaker was a friend of the taxpayers and received a perfect score of 100%. On the other hand, a lawmaker who voted against tax cuts and for every tax-increase and spending bill included in this survey received a score of 0. He or she was an enemy of the taxpayers.
