The Naperville Sun ran a story that quoted our own Jim Tobin calling for a halt to the millionaire pensions our teachers and administrators are sucking out of taxpayers pockets. State Sen. Chris Lauzen (R-Aurora) introduced a bill to cap pensions at $100,000, which is better than no cap at all.

CHICAGO-The president of Illinois’ largest taxpayer group today stated that officials from J. Sterling Morton High School District 201 are acting just like the children in their schools, if not worse. When a child is told no when demanding money, they will try the other parent and then perhaps even a grandparent. Well, the voters have told District 201 NO at the last two elections. They didn’t listen to those votes and are asking for the third time in 12 months for the same $15 million they want but don’t need. Read more →
Crain’s Chicago Business published an Op-Ed by Jim Tobin based on ITEF Comment 12-7 that dispells the myth that Illinois is a “low-tax” state. Illinoisans pay more than the average share of taxes according to the Tax Foundation.
