Ottawa Taxpayer Meeting Thursday, May 10

The President of Taxpayers United of America (TUA) Jim Tobin has been invited to speak at the Illinois Valley Libertarian Party meeting Thursday, May 10. The meeting is located at Hank’s Farm
2973 N State Route 71, Ottawa, Illinois 61350 and will start at 7PM. Jim Tobin will speak about the history of TUA, and the greatest enemy to Illinois Taxpayers: lavish, gold plated government pensions.
Some highlight from the talk will be how in 1977, Tobin led the first successful property tax strike in modern Illinois history. He will also talk on how in the past four decades, TUA has been victorious in defeating 423 tax-increase referenda, stopping 19 state income tax hikes, and defeating every attempt to enact a graduated state income tax in Illinois since 1992.
In exposing the pensions, Tobin will reveal facts on how the Illinois state pension system is abused. More than 100,000 Illinois government retirees collect annual pensions totaling $50,000 or more. 17,000 of those former government employees collect annual pensions totaling $100,000 or more.  The average annual Social Security pension for taxpayers is less than $17,000.
